HYPERSTAT is a particular system: the set of initial elements is not defined, it is populated every time by the script according to the given 3D wire diagram and the set rules of the script.
The system allows to create tables, chairs, lamps and virtually any shape, giving it both lightweight and great strength.
We are continuously exploring the possibilities of this strong and flexible system, in hope to be able to soon open it to other users thanks to an online app’.
The ideal representation of a structural assembly is segments joined by their ends connected by rotulas: the forces inside of such a system are tension and compression in alignement with the lines (no moment, torsion, etc.).
By creating a script that turns the wire diagram into a 3D assembly by populating automatically the connection nodes and sending them to the 3Dprinter, we created a direct link between scheme and object. This physical assembly has ideal structural properties, including hyperstatism therefore its name: HYPERSTAT.
As the system can be applied to any wireframe structure, the exploration of subjects it can be applied to is ongoing. After the chairs, the table was an obvious one. HYPERSTAT gives it a great strength and impressive transparency throught lightness. The Giraffe table lamp, having an extra constraint: its lamp had to be adjustable in height, brought a new element to the system: movement.
